AURORA ROCKET - Children's Colour Changing Clock [2005]

The Aurora Rocket was the follow on to the Aurora, aimed specifically at Children's lighting market. The body of the rocket was a soft OVC, rotational moulded.
It took a number of iterations to get the right thickness of the tail fins, that act as the legs, as it was important to retain the right opacity to the translucent casing as well as rigidity.
The light source and clock face were designed to be a removable generic component. This would allow the use of the same component in future designs and bespoke options.
Where the original the Aurora had a snooze and glow function incorporated in to the legs so you could just tape the top of the clock, the whole front face of this removable component acted like a push switch, so there was no need to fiddle around on the back.
The Aurora Rocket was submitted for Design Registration in the UK (3022277 & 3021987) and EU (000445366-0001 & 000445358-0001) in 2005, and in the US (D554283) in 2006.
